The propagation of olives trees by rooted stem cutting assures a strong, fast and homogeneous growth of the olive-grove; besides in the olive's tree borderline area (characterized by an high risk of frostes and consequently the olive-tree's damage) it gives a vegetation of the same kind also from roots.

In this way the growth of wild buds is avoided instead of what can happen in grafted olive-trees. The production starts to be important since the third-fourth year. The Tommasi Farm assures a scrupulous seriousness in the choice of the stem cuttins that are taken away from healthy and fruitful mother-trees that during the latest large frostes, showed to be more resistant to cold than others of the same kind. Sales of olive-trees take place by the Tommasi Farm only where there are available many kinds of olive-trees like: Moraiolo, Leccino, Frantoio, Pendolino, Nostrale di Rigali, Rosciola, Coratina, Martano. The origin of Martano is unknown, probably it was born naturally from a seed and than during the years has shown an excellent resistance against cold, a good size and quantity production of olives with a great olive oil taste.
